The European Union Blue Book Traineeship Program offers young minds a unique opportunity to gain good practical experience in the European Union. The program provides a monthly stipend of EUR 1380 to candidates during the program, it also covers full free travel and medical costs, and it also opens doors to future employment opportunities.
The European Union Commission proposes two types of Blue Book Traineeship:
1. Administrative Traineeship
2. Translation Traineeship with the Directorate-General for Translation (DGT).
This EU traineeship programme is open to all eligible candidates whatever their citizenship, regardless of their sex, race, colour, ethnic or social origin, religion or belief, membership of a national minority, disability, age or sexual orientation.
Trainees work all over the European Commission, its services and agencies, mostly in Brussels, but also in Luxembourg and anywhere across the European Union locations.
Each batch of trainees organises a huge range of non-formal learning, social activities, from football to wine-tasting and much in between – in true bureaucratic fashion, each with its own organising committee.

- Applicant must have completed a standard 3-year higher education degree (minimum EQF 6 level) or equivalent. Applicant can also get official confirmation letter from your university.
- Applicant must have no prior work experience of any kind, in exceeding 6 weeks in any EU institution, body or agency, delegation
- Applicant must have a very good knowledge of languages, for the language information read below to understand what is required:
- For the administrative traineeship; applicant must have two EU official languages, one of the language must be: English, French or German at C1 or C2 level, and the second language should be B2 level.
- For non-European nationals, only one procedural language is required at C1 or C2 level.
- For the translation traineeship in the Directorate-General for Translation (DGT); applicant must be able to translate into your main language from two other official European languages.
